History
ZGRAF is an international triennial exhibition of graphic design and visual communications held in Zagreb since 1975.

It is organised by the ULUPUH, the Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts. Throughout the years ZGRAF exhibitions have gathered designers, theoreticians and critics in order to discuss essential design issues and design status in contemporary society. ZGRAF has thus emphasized the importance of design as a profession (ZGRAF 1); discussed the relationships between graphic design and art (ZGRAF 3); pointed out the importance of education and advocated establishment of design school (ZGRAF 5); studied the advance of digital technology in design - web design and multimedia as new design segments (ZGRAF 8); and discussed the role and social responsibility of design and designers in the area of advertising (ZGRAF 9).

Moreover, the appointment of selectors and open competition have enabled ZGRAF to present world examples of graphic design in order to provide deep and valuable insights into the world design scene, as well as place Croatian design works in the international context. ZGRAF has sought to establish conditions for polemical discourse on contemporary design practice and its role in complex and often contradictory culture of every day life.
