In addition the ULUPUH Annual Prize for special contribution to the reputation of the association will be awarded to Ana Lendvaj and Munira Serdarević.
This year’s ULUPUH Honorary members are Boris Bućan and Latica Ivanišević.

The President of Zagreb City Council, Davor Bernadić, will present the awards.
Višnja Slavica Gabout, the president of ULUPUH Art Council, will present annual awards and honorary memberships.

The 11th edition of Zgraf – the international exhibition of graphic design and visual communications was held from the 15 March to the 5 April 2012 in Zagreb, under the auspices of Zagreb City Council. The main review exhibition and the thematic exhibition This used to be the Future was proposed and selected by guest theoretician Dejan Kršić. The exhibition took place at the Home of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists. The exhibition of posters of the Swiss designer Niklaus Troxler who was the winner of ZGRAF 10 Grand Prix took place at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Past experience has shown the need to include student works into the exhibition so this year’s edition of Zgraf presented a new EduZgraf programme alongside its main exhibition. EduZgraf is an educational programme and a creative platform for local and international students of design and visual communications as well as for professional young designers at the beginning of their careers. The programme was made up of three parts: EduZgraf student exhibition, EduZgraf workshops and EduZgraf evenings. The programme was proposed and realized by Ivana Meštrov and Mihaela Richter.
World-renowned designers and design theorists participated in Zgraf 11 both as members of the jury and educators. Thus Zgraf 11 provided a unique opportunity for the general public and professionals in the field to evaluate the production of local design and the activities of local designers within the current international framework. This was a continued aim of Zgraf since its first edition in 1975. But this year’s Zgraf with its thematic exhibition This used to be the future and the new EduZgraf student programme was directed at the future – at (self) critically reflecting it’s past and it’s place in society, questioning the character and significance of design as a profession today.
In what ways can we stand up to the underappreciated notions of design and its practices in times of deep structural crises of the global post-industrial society? What are the possibilities of critical design practices today? What are the role and the potential of education for designers and education through design? In the exhibition catalogue Dejan Kršić, the Zgraf 11 guest theoretician, answered these questions in the following manner: “Our actions today define the historical sense of past actions, or as Venturini or Badiou noted we define today what will tomorrow become the Event. The future development depends on our activity or passivity. All future projections usually fall short. Things take a different course. But the everyday “today” holds the actual possibility for action, what defines the fate of the past and prospects of the future”.
